Hi,

I just wanted to know if 70 degrees is normal on a 5820k at 1.28 volts overclocked to 4.5 Ghz under full load on a H220x.

There are several other variables that will be needed before making that assessment. These are:

-Ambient temperature
-Fan configuration for the case that's being used
-How the fans on the radiator are configured
-How good is the contact between the CPU and the water block
-Is there anything else in the loop or is this a stock configuration

Regards,

My ambient temperature is 25 degrees Celsius. I have three 120 mm fans as intake on the front of the case and the two 120 mm fan on the radiator pulling air out of the case. I think I have pretty good contact between the block and the cpu. The cpu is the only thing in the loop. The fans and pump are running at full speed.

In that case, 70 degrees is maybe a couple of degrees on the high side, but not outside what would be considered normal. If you were seeing temperatures in the high 70's or low 80's then that might indicate a problem. However, sometimes these temperatures are also due to inconsistencies in how the chips are produced. Some do run hotter than others. That temperature looks normal though. I hope this answers your questions.

Regards,

1.28 volts is also a lot for that CPU, so 70 degrees is to be expected. As a comparison my 5830K @ 4.0 GHz 0.980v is about 55 degrees with a pump speed at 15%.
