anyone heard of this before. It sounds like an idea worth investigating.

If you mean an dimmer that you would use for a 120V AC light, it might work, but I don't know how the electronics work out given that the TEC is running direct current and the dimmer is designed for alternating current.

I thought he was refering to a fan controller...???

I've been investigating that idea for possible use with a Crystalfontz LCD unit that has fan control capabilities based on temp probe readings.

I was thinking maybe I could hook up a low wattage pelt to the fan header and regulate the power to it through the fan controler based on the Dallas temp probe readings.

I think the biggest hurdle would be how much current you could run through each header (or as a whole) on the fan controller.

It will not work. The MeanWell S320 power supply is a regulated PS. It will maintain it's set DC output voltage with a AC input voltage variance from 88-132 volts. Anything above or below that and it will shut down on a line input fault.

Adding an externally adjustable variable DC output voltage control to the MeanWell S320 is fairly easy but should not be attempted by a lay person. It requires opening up the power supply and modifying the DC voltage out trim circuit to put an external 5K Linear Taper Pot in series with the existing voltage trim pot on the S320's PCB.
