I recently build a new computer using mostly Swiftech parts. I'm using the MCP50X pump. My computer is almost silent. The only noise I hear is from the pump. I'm running it at 20% PWM speed and it's very quiet, but not completely silent.

I want to encase the pump in sound damping material to try to make it silent but I don't know if that will make the pump overheat.

Is the pump cooled by the ambient air in the case or the water in the loop? Can I encase the pump in foam?

BTW, I'm very pleased with all the Swiftech components in my build.

Thanks in advance.
